WORKING CONDITION

My working condition? Well, I start working at 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (usually we have overtime (pay????), finished at around 7:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m.)

My daily routine:
6:30 a.m. - Wake up alarm, take a bath, brush my teeth, wear my uniform. (During those times, our flats really busy as all the people with the same schedule as mine were hurried in preparation for their everyday working duties.)
6:50 a.m. - Ready to go and waiting for the Public Vehicle at Bus Stand (taxi stand as they call it)
7:00 a.m. - Reach the store

Going to work without breakfast!!!

My work located at Abu Dhabi, HARDEE’S, I was assigned for the opening of our store (sometimes closing too). The first thing to do after I arrived was to clean the whole vicinity and make it sure everything will be in order and clean, swift the floor, clean the kitchen, the counter, remove the garbage etc. Then, prepare all the ingredients need for making hamburgers like cutting of onions, tomatoes, cucumber, letus, mushrooms, et al. It’s really a busy morning because I always alone when I do all those duties.

My co-workers arrive at around 8:00 a.m. and they will do the rest of their own duties. At 10:00a.m. customers are starting to enter and begin to order. It’s a busy hours again for me, I need to prepare their orders, fry the burger, grilled, put onion, tomatoes and all other ingredients for the hamburger. The order should finish at about 7 minutes or less. I need to prepare as fast I could with quality of course.

As my work load are really hectic, we don’t have scheduled lunch time and we are only allowed to have our lunch if there are only few or no customers inside the store. (I hope the management spare time to review our conditions, we are human anyway and needs food on time in order to be healthy and have at least enough strength to do our obligations and to avoid sickness).

Our store policy, serve the Customers with MAXIMUM SATISFACTION combine with “HEALTHY, CLEAN and QUALITY FOOD”. Anyway, customers are the reason why our store still existing. Customers are the one who provide us job so they should always get the SPECIAL/VIP treatment.

My everyday working schedule is really tiring but I need to do my duties and responsibilities everyday.

LIVING CONDITION

Abu Dhabi is a nice place. You will see high-rise buildings in the heart of the city, commercial, residential etc. Corniche is one of the tourist spot here. I often visit the place if ever I want to be alone. Corniche is my sanctuary. In that place I can think peacefully, I can reflect about all the things happened to me, especially my work and also talking to GOD asking for his guidance and be safe at all time.

Abu Dhabi is one of the most beautiful place in the Middle East. Despite the fact that this place is a dessert but you can find the place full of green plants. It is really amazing.

Of course, there is also common problem for an expat like me which is accommodation, where you can rent a bed space for AED 500.00 to 600.00 a month for a nepali like me, which I will be able to share a small room for about 10 persons.

I have a friend who is always complaining about the bed space he shared with others. He paid AED 750.00 share with 10 people in one small space. He cannot cook well because there is only one common kitchen used by more the 40 people in a flat (4 to 5 rooms). Even using the toilet in which usually (especially early morning when lots of people going to toilet to take a bath for the preparations to work) he needs to wait in order to use the toilet. My friend need to wake up very early so he has a privilege to get first using the toilet. (Its what I call it sacrifice)

Foods are really expensive. I am only receiving AED 850.00 a month whereas I need to get my food expenses from my salary. I usually spend AED 250.00 a month for the food alone. How about my other expenses like buying my personal things like toothpaste, bath soap, laundry soap and other things for my personal hygiene? Aside from that, I need to send my monthly remittance in Nepal. The salary we have been receiving is not enough to cover-up all the expenses.

I already finished 1 year, but unfortunately, I have never save anything from my salary. I will go home for vacation empty handed. I even requested my supervisor to raise my salary but until now there is no result. Considering all the efforts for my jobs. I even got more than 5 times “EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH”. It proved that I am really a hardworking employee.

MY DREAM COUNTRY

My dream country is USA. Why? We all know America is a land of MILK and HONEY. I set my mind, in USA I have a golden opportunities waiting for me out there.

We need to face NEPAL is one of the poorest country in the world, as a citizen of my country, I need to think something which I am sure will help me and my family to live a decent and fulfilling life. I know I have good fortune ahead of me.

Since my early age, I always think about going to America and establish my future, to get a good job and to have my own family in that country. Until now, this dreams still in my mind. Only the problem is ”how can this dream put into reality?” I don’t know anybody who can help me to fulfill my dreams.

I have tried on-line application via Internet, they’re just promise but the truth is, they just asked me to pay a certain amount in order to process the necessary papers. OK, if I send them money, how sure I am they can help me. I don’t know these people. I don’t even have the idea how they looks like.

Giving money as a payment for their promises is not assurance to be in the place I wanted to go. In case that my on-line application never succeeds, do they going to return the money?

I am sure there are many philanthropists out there who are willing to help me to have my dreams be real and never expect anything in return…. I am hoping….. so help me GOD

FRIENDSHIP???

For me, Friendship is LIFE and we need friends in order to face the reality of life. Friends can help me to conquer all the difficulties of life. Without a friend it seems life is empty (that’s my opinion).

I have met a lot of people here in UAE, different nationalities and culture. It is not right judge other people thru his looks/appearance. Sometimes it’s hard to avoid giving a conclusion about a person whom I have met for the first time.

I am not a choosy person when it comes to friendship, I can deal with Nepali, Filipino, Egyptian, India, Sri Lankan and other nationalities. But of course, there is one at least who will stand out among the rest of these people not just defending on what he can give you but the idea of being a true person. He can teach you how to grow in a graceful manner. And help you to find a real meaning of life.

I want to tell you the truth, at my age still I asked myself “why I exist in this world? Why I need to struggle the so called “LIFE.” What is the reason why I need to continue my life and then later on I will die? Maybe someone from these people I can find the answer to my question.
